Chairman Vraa called the meeting to order. Minutes of the 21 August were read and approved with changes.
Treasurer’s Report: Balances….. A-savings $10.58, D-savings $1674.63, checking $2834.62, CD $15,000.Income…. one-half the profit from the auction $206.56. Expenses….$14.50 to SCAN arts Small Town Sat. night. Motion and second to approve the Treasurer’s report as presented were passed unanimously.

Business:
1. Rumor around town has it that the soil hauling broke the bank. Members
were urged to point out to anyone concerned that this is incorrect.
2. Jennifer’s scrapbook and interviews were described. The book and interviews are also on CD. Jane read a thank you note from Jennifer; the Society members expressed an interest in having Jennifer return, should the opportunity arise. The members present took a look at the site layouts envisioned by Jennifer. Receipts from $300 payment to CAP are on file with the Treasurer.
3. Jane provided a brief update on the pending arts grant.
4. Schedule for resuming work was discussed. Need to await the slow-down of farm work.
5. Spokelys will haul dirt to the site again to be placed in the low spot east of the cabin and the area south of the site.
6. Discussed the need to bring in the windmill tower. Todd will speak to Mark Stoertroen to see if he would do it for less than $150. Seconded and approved.
New
Business:
1. Discussed the success
of the threshing display in Crookston.
2. Some ideas for next year Small Town Saturday / SHSHS activities were considered:
a. log cabin construction demonstration
b. local traditional music
c. select date to accommodate more people
d. have ceremony to commemorate the Old Settler’s Society; potential for Frog Pt./Belmont research
e. display antique car
3. These items need to be planned soon.
