Sand Hill Settlement Historical Society --- 23 July 2009

Members present: Darrel Paulsrud, Keith Evenson, John Vraa, Todd Evenson, Jane and Ervin Vigness

Todd read the secretary's reports from the May and June meetings. Approved as read. Todd also gave the treasurer's report. He went over our checking and saving balances along with the financial details of Small Town Saturday this year --- $2182 for expenses with $2350 income. Approved as read.

OLD BUSINESS:

John inquired about purchasing another 5 gallons of fungicide for the cabin. A motion was made and approved for John to do so. There was discussion of redoing the shingles on the small cabin. A figure will be estimated for the rent of Harlow Grove's scaffold that we used while shingling the barn. The shingles will be very close on coverage.

Much was accomplished on the July 22nd work day. The guys had a few surprises during their labors; Terri delivered brownies, Signe brought meat and potatoes, and Vicki made a raspberry tart. Steve Stortroen stopped by and helped with the clean-up as well.

NEW BUSINESS:

Small Town Saturday 2010 has been tentatively set for June 5th.

Spokelys will deliver the final loads of potato dirt around the cabin site this fall. We will plant a cover and grass.

A suggestion was made to hire experienced workers to chink the barn. The right mix is important to last for years. No decision was made at this time.

Next work day is Monday, July 27th.

Meeting adjourned at 9:30. Next meeting Aug. 27 at 8:00.
