Minutes from the meeting held on 21 March 2002 were approved without changes by the members present .
Treasurer’s report: A-savings-$10.43, D-savings-$3211.04, checking-$417.44, CD-$15,000 (matures on July 23), $5 in a memorial donation was received and deposited earlier in the day. Members voted to approve the treasurer’s report.
Old Business:
Charlie Nelson suggested that the Society place an 8x12 inch footing
, reinforced with rebar, under the I-beam supports of the barn. Russ estimated
this would cost an additional $300, more or less. It was moved, seconded,
and approved unanimously that the extra work be done, with the stipulation
that pads rather than a trough be used, if possible.
Bob Burner reminded the Society that the organization will need to control weeds at the farmstead site. This will be especially critical the first season, before Spokelys can bring in black dirt during potato harvest.
New Business:
The members present discussed which building should be worked on first
and when members would have time to do the work. There seemed to be general
concensus that the work begin as soon as possible, with dates for a group
effort in mid-June or mid-July. There did not seem to be general concensus
or a seconded motion on which building should be the initial focus of the
work.
Charlie Nelson suggested that we begin documenting the logs and other elements of the barn. This would take about a week. The barn could then be dismantled and and sprayed with preservative. He further indicated that the cabin would not take long to set up.
Russ S. reviewed orally his bid for work on the barn. Discussion ensued and Russ agreed to present a written bid to the Society at the next regular meeting time on 18 April 2002.
Meeting adjorned at 8:30 pm.
