Minutes from the 20 December 2001 meeting (8:00 pm)

Minutes of the 15 November meeting were read and approved as amended.
Treasurer’s report: $555.74 in savings and $12.94 in checking.
Motion and second to approve report. Passed. Discussed IRS tax-exempt status – not yet approved. 2002 ND Old Settlers Association annual report has to be filled out and sent in during January.
Discussed dirt hauling project that was finished 19, 20, 21, and 23 November. Noted in-kind donations: John Vraa, 2 trucks for $650; Todd Evenson, 3 trucks for $455; A&S Construction for dozer, packer, payloader $2940; Farmers Union Oil, fork lift, $30. Truck drivers and operators: John Vraa $192, Pete Vraa $224, Ervin Vigness $168, Todd Evenson and Tom Schreiner, $328, Keith Dale $96, Dan Counsill, $40, Arvid and Larry Stortroen, Larry Kaiser $488, Keith Dale (for clay fill) $1232. Expenses to be paid: Farmers Union Oil (truck fuel) $552.01, A&S Construction (backload loading) $4895, Bertils Trucking (clay hauling) $3180.
The site was leveled and finished just a few days before freeze up. Thank you note should be sent to all volunteers and to those making donations.
Discussed land ownership and clear title from the city and highway dept. The city will spend up to $600 toward updating the abstract.
Motion and second to authorize the treasurer to pay A&S Construction and Bertils Trucking bills when funds are available from Noel Estenson donation. (Motion passed).
Motion and second to hold our Annual Meeting on January 17, 2002 with election of officers, financial report and review, and changes to be made to our articles of incorporation or by-laws. (Motion passed)
Discussed membership drive this winter and to charge $10 per person for one year and after a few years, when we get more organized, have different membership categories for families, children, and individuals.
Discussed cutting down seven oak trees from the Estenson site as replacement logs on the bottom of the barn. We need to doing this before we get too much snow and when we have more time to strip the bark. We also need to get some old 20-foot logs from a shed that Keith Dale is tearing down at the Anne Peterson farm.
Discussed moving the Stortroen windmill to the new site. Bid from A&S Construction to move -- $250. Talked about other windmills in the area. Motion and second to delay moving the Stortroen windmill until later when we have the other buildings moved.
Discussed mowing the new site next summer. We will get a bid from the city if they are interested in continuing to mow the new site, or set up volunteers now.
